Good Neighbor Gardens uses reusable containers to deliver our harvest such as boxes and brown paper bags that can be returned and broken down to be used in making compost. Layering on compost to our raised beds and fruit trees builds microbial-rich soil and creates a carbon sink. It’s how we restore the earth in our food growing practice.

We whole heartedly support our partner in regenerative agriculture Food2Soil. The San Diego based collective of chefs and farmers, businesses and individuals, entrepreneurs and innovators are building a people-powered, community centered foundation for the circular economy. We highly recommend that you sign up as a member for this wonderful program.

Another great program that you should know about is the SD Compost Bin Voucher Program. The City of San Diego has partnered with Dixieline Lumber and Home Center to offer compost bins at a discounted rate. Upon qualification, vouchers will be emailed within 2-4 weeks. To qualify, the applicant must be a City of San Diego resident.

If the worm bin is selected, an additional voucher will be provided; good for 1 pound of red wiggler worms. Residents are responsible for the shipping cost of worms. Take advantage of this opportunity today!
