Fresh Caprese Salad with Tomatoes & Basil from the Garden
INGREDIENTS
3–4 ripe heirloom or vine-ripened tomatoes, sliced
8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Coarse sea salt to taste
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Optional: 1–2 tbsp balsamic glaze
INSTRUCTIONS
Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella into 1/4-inch rounds.
On a large serving platter, alternate layers of tomato slices, mozzarella slices, and basil leaves in an overlapping pattern.
Season generously with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Drizzle with olive oil and, if desired, balsamic glaze.
Serve immediately at room temperature for best flavor and texture.
